As the "Little Prince"
looks after his planet, Tereza looks after the world. She holds it in her arms, she
embraces it because she likes it, and also because she is a little afraid for it. |
| The Civic Association Tereza is an independent organization
(NGO) which works in the fields of environmental protection and further education of
children and adults. It organizes programs combining specialized,
educational and recreational activities.
In 2000 more than 1,900 groups from over 500 schools took part in
ecological projects (including groups, families and individuals).
Tereza is a significant partner of the Ministry for Natural Environment.
In 1999 it was involved in the preparation of governmental programs to further
environmental education. In cooperation with 25 other countries it created a research
paper concerning the development of environmental education in the whole world. |

|
The most important aims are:
- community, resource and educational centre "Labyrinth of The
World and Paradise of The Heart"
- programs for schools and public in Prokopské údolí
- school ecological projects
- Club Tereza
- support in learning about nature

|
"Labyrinth
of The World and Paradise of The Heart"
| In 1998 Tereza came up with an idea to establish a
centre for children and the public in Prague 1. Owing to the promotion of the Municipality
of Prague 1, the State Foundation for Natural Environment and, many other institutions and
sponsors, it was possible to realize this idea. In September 1998, the reconstruction of
an old building began and finally in May 1999 the work was finished. On the 29th of
September 1999 a new community, resource and educational centre was opened. It was given
the name "Labyrinth of The World and Paradise of The Heart". |

|

|
The newly reconstructed building which became
Tereza´s headquarters, was rented for 15 years for a symbolic sum 1 Kč from the
Municipality of Prague 1. Tereza extended its activities as it enlarged its space. It
provides creative programs for children and adults, ecological information, a library
focused on ecology, lectures and seminars and even small exhibitions and concerts for the
public. |
| "Every man is the better and
noble the more he appreciates nature. Everyone who appreciates nature also loves it. Love
for nature should be taught as one of the most precious qualities in families and also at
schools." J. A. Komenský |
"Labyrinth of The World and Paradise of The
Heart" is divided, according to the aims of the programs, into several parts:

|
Childrens World – a community
centre organized into various groups for children and youth. –
The activities are linked with an ongoing study of the natural environment and its
development. An Activity Center was set up for children of all ages, so
that they can spend their leisure time there. “A
Paradise for Teachers – the Educational Center arranges “educational
lessons for organizations which are involved in informing the public about the
natural environmental situation and of its protection. Tereza also provides
education and advice on individual energy saving, recycling, etc...
Information for the Public - a Resource Center
offers up-to-date information about the natural environment, a specialized library and, a
"Resource Tea Room." |
- In the year 2000 over 3,500 people (including
more than 3,000 children and youth) visited the center.
- The visitors participated in over 5,000 hours
of creative activity (2.5 hours per person per day)

according to their interests.
- Tereza organized 15 educational lectures for
234 teachers.
